Kerry 2024 gets underway

Our annual Kerry Safari has commenced, with training and familiarisation flights taking place from Fermoyle Beach on the northern side of the peninsula.

This unique gliding safari, where we are often joined by glider pilots from around the world, takes place on the Dingle Peninsula each autumn. We are enormously grateful to the communities along the Dingle Peninsula who give us such a warm welcome each year.

It was from a launch from Inch Beach, during the safari of 1991, that Brian Connolly set the Irish gliding height gain record. On 20 Sept 1991, Brian achieved 24,000 feet having gained clearance from Shannon for the climb. This record stands to this day and is a truly remarkable achievement.
